Author’s introduction

I was in Vietnam in 1967 - 68 and again in 1969. I go back often because my soul lives in Vietnam and I go back to visit it from time to time.

I was sitting in my hotel room in Saigon just before Christmas 2009 and I was trying to write a poem about the girls who work in the park and how badly men treat them. I was angry but unable to write anything that did not sound trite or weak. I looked at the TV and the news was on. I did not know what the news reader was saying but in the background was a photo of a small boy with a helmet and an automatic rifle. This poem flowed out. The words just came to me and I typed as fast as I could to get it all down.

1. Point of View
this is in the poet’s point of view. He views the war as outrageous as little children are being terrorized like the little girls in the park while boys are required to fight in the war as he saw a small boy holding an auto rifle in the news.
2. Situation and Setting
In this poem, the situation is in a war where children are captured to learn how to fight so that they could become soldiers and fight in war. These are evident as the poem stated that "There are children in the darkness Who someone will teach to fight" and "Or will a war consume them" the setting can also be in a hidden hiding spot. From “children in the darkness”, I can infer that the children may be hiding from the war ,not on the battle field but if hey were found, they would have to fight.

3. Language/Diction
In this poem, the words the poet use were effective in showing the terrible state the children are in. There are some repetition in the poem like "There are children in the darkness" which is used to emphasis on the living conditions of the children and words like "Could we" are being repeated. Most of the words at the end of each line rhymes with the previous word at the end of the previous line to maintain the smoothness of the poem so it seems fluent.

4. Personal Response
this is an easy war poetry that can be researched easily. (i found a website with all 3 of the stated poems. I think Mrs. raj found the poems on http://www.warpoetry.co.uk/2010warpoetry.html.but i thought it was challenging as there was nothing much to write about in this poem.

i feel that the results are true.very accurate
i love music and that is reflected
bad thing bout it is that i nid to write a poem about it :(
but i dont get why my myself smart is so low

i think its quite true

always watch animal planet/nat geo wild ect...

The article I am reviewing is the article in which a Bear attacks woman in home. (8:44 AM 19/08/09)this incident happened in ASPEN (Colorado). The bear apparently entered the house by doors that were closed but not locked. This major factor led to the bear attack on the woman. Officers believe the same bear may have entered and tried to break into other homes in the area. They plan to euthanize the bear if they find it. Bears are normally tagged the first time they're caught breaking into a house or basically causing trouble. But if they strike again, the bears are most likely killed. But if bears are caught showing any aggression to humans, they would be killed there and then. Aspen police and wildlife officers have received many bear calls all summer. Finding a bear in a car or a house either because it broke open a door or walked in through an open door is a daily occurrence. Resort town has one of the most aggressive campaigns to educate people about living in bear country as bear may strike any moment. citizens ate also urged to lock there doors at all times not because of high crime rates but to stop bears from house breaking and may lead to lesser bear attacks as a bear would only continue to visit houses when they find food in it and comes back for more. By locking door, bears have no problem not visiting houses. Someone started this bear on its run and they either didn’t care or don’t know any better.

One of my many favorite eateries is pepper lunch. They have a very unique way of serving food. They actually give you uncooked meat, eggs; vegetables ECT on a hot metal plate and lets you cook the meal yourself. You can add different sauces when cooking like honey or garlic ECT... the ingredients used are very fresh and tastes delicious. Pepper lunch originated from Japan and now has a few outlets in Singapore including central, great world city... just to name a few.
i recommend you to try anything on the menu as they are all equally good. the link to their website is www.pepperlunch.com.sg.but be careful not to scald yourself when handling with the hot plate. the wait for the meal is not very long as the food is kind of half cooked but you can cook it in any way you want so you can have the meal the way you like it. They also serve other Japanese dishes like miso soup, Japanese ice cream and Japanese drinks. They have uniquely Japanese flavors like green tea, black sesame and others. I love Japanese food. I know that you would too. So, what are you waiting for? Hurry and go down to the nearest pepper lunch now!

Ending for the actual story:Mrs Narwin resigned from her job and returned to Britan to meet her sister and Phillip Malloy was transfered to Washinton Acadamy.

My alternate ending: After the news spread about Mrs Narwin being and treating Phillip unfairly, the citizens of Washinton went on strike against teachers that they disliked and attempted to harm them. soon, they started to riot.

Dear governor,
I am the chairman of the Farmer's Co-operative in Jiangsu and I have received numerous complaints about farm land being re-forested. I agree that re-foresting is a good idea and would benefit the environment. But there are a few pros and cons. Re-foresting is good at it helps to grow more trees and can fight off global warming. On the other hand, by re-foresting farmland, farmers have less land to cultivate food to feed the people of your country. In so, they would also face a drop in their income. This drop in income would indirectly affect everyone including you. Their reduced income would also mean that you would collect lesser tax. With lesser tax income, you may not be able to support the projects that are currently in progress. This includes the re-foresting project.

The crops grown on the farm also emit oxygen and take in carbon dioxide just as well as forest plants. So, allowing the farmers to keep he farmland is also as good as re-forestation. I hope that after you hear this speech, you would change your mind and stop re-foresting farmland.

On behalf of the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals,i would like to talk about the cruel whaling in japan.
whales are now a protected species and are in endangermant of extinction.if we continuosly kill whales,the entire species would vanish from the face of the earth.once extinct, it cannot be brought back to life.many animals are extinct because of us human beings.Eg-Dodo,mammoth,great auk,passengr pigeon,Carolina Parakeet,Heath Hen,Eastern Bison and the Eastern Elk.over the past years, hundreds os animals were extinct and we do not want to add to the numbers.
although whales provide us with oil for fuel, we could look for alternatives such as solar energe or even wind.is the killing stops, the whales would once again flourish.
if humans where haunted, how would you feel?you would't like it, would you?
so i say,stop the haunting of whales!!!! Who's with me??!!
